Drinking Water Benefits Your Health

Our body is approximately 75% water.  The brain and the lungs are also largely water. After eliminating water through the skin, lungs, bladder, etc. does our body have enough left to operate efficiently?

Most people are unaware that they are dehydrated ‘resulting in premature aging, stress on kidneys, arthritis and a host of other health problems.’ Amazing Health Facts, p. 19.

Signs of dehydration are –

  • headache
  • confusion
  • flushed skin
  • heat intolerance
  • stomach pains, etc.

“Dehydration makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be improved with proper hydration. But once you are adequately hydrated, the kidneys take over and excrete excess fluids,” says Atlanta dermatologist Kenneth Ellner, MD.

To avoid being dehydrated, use a natural remedy – drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.  Exact proportions can be calculated.  For example if you weigh 120 lbs., divide it by 2 = 60 oz. Divide 60 by 8 = 7 ½ 8-oz glasses.  Heavy perspiration, warmer temperatures and heat will increase the need for water.

What water should I drink – distilled, tap, purified, ionic? If your tap water has been tested  to be safe, it is cheap enough.  Otherwise, you may boil your water or buy a water filter.  The fact that you drink water is more important than what kind you drink.

Drinking water helps lower the risk of various cancers and heart disease. Back and joint pain is eased by drinking sufficient water. Drinking two glasses of warm water when you get up in the morning, helps with elimination.
